It has been announced that Higher Secondary, the Class XII state board exams, will begin on June 15 and practical exams in March. Education minister Partha Chatterjee on Saturday said the HS council had been instructed to reschedule HS last date from June 30 to another day. “Hul Utsav will start from June 30. So, we have requested the council to alter the HS exam date,” he said.
All candidates have been allowed to appear for the board exams this year as the selection tests could not be held due to the pandemic. The cancellation has left teachers and students worried as candidates will not get the chance to take a “rehearsal” test. “Though the board has updated Madhyamik candidates about the question format after curtailing the syllabus, students don’t have a clue about probable questions in the absence of test papers, a compilation of selection test question papers of various schools,” said Saugata Basu, general secretary of West Bengal Government School Teachers’ Association. He added they had requested the board to publish model question papers and to allow schools to hold mock tests.
Some teachers are also concerned about the West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education’s decision to authorize schools to select topics for Class XII practical exams.
